Lospec Dailies Now Accepting Tag Submissions!
posted by skeddles in lospec-updates 1 0Lospec Dailies, our daily prompt system which chooses a random palette and tag each day to help spark creativity and practice, has gotten an upgrade!
A few days ago it ran into some issues, so I decided to rewrite a lot of it to be cleaner and easier to maintain. In the process I finally revamped the tags system to use the database rather than json files, which have a habit of breaking.
So not only will this system break far less, but now we can accept submissions for tags!
This uses the same submission / queue system as the rest of the site, so you can just submit your tag ideas, and once they are approved they will start appearing in the Dailies!
This makes the list much easier to update, and much easier for people to add suggestions.
There was also an issue of duplicate tags being chosen too close together because they were just chosen randomly from a list. Now the dates when they get used for a daily are tracked, and the tag is chosen from the 50 least recently used tags, so there should now be a lot more time before repeats - and the more tags you submit the longer that will be!
With the old tags and some already added submissions, we're up to 326 tags, and by the time they start repeating we'll probably have a whole years worth.
We do have a couple guidelines on what makes a good Lospec Dailies tag, so check out the rules at the bottom of the submission form, and then start submitting some tags!
If you want to participate in Lospec Dailies, feel free to submit your creations to the Lospec gallery or any social media with the #lospecdailies tag, or join our discord where we have a very active channel for participants!
