Warning: a modern web browser is required to use this website.
We detected that you may have an out of date or unsupported web browser. This tool, like many others on this site and across the web uses features only available in new web browsers. We reccommend updating your current browser or downloading Firefox or Chrome.
Rejected palettes are palettes that were submitted to our palette list, but rejected for various reasons. Most of the time this is due to a failure to include an example image, but we also reject palettes we don't feel were designed with pixel art in mind. Using these palettes is not reccomended, but we list them for posterirty, and in case someone wants to challenge themselves with a less-than-ideal rejected palette. In the future we plan to change our submission process so that all original palettes can be included on the website, but since the palette is deeply ingrained with our submissions system, this will require a lot of work. Since Lospec is an independant website entirely maintained by a single person, it could be a while before this update is able to happen, so in the meantime we've provided this page so anyone can browse rejected palettes from our site.

I designed the DRAGONFIRE palette to capture the contrast between cool, deep shadows and intense, volcanic light. This example is a cross-section of a larger environment piece (Rule 3) where I was trying to portray a creature lurking in a dim cavern, lit only by its own fiery breath and the glowing crystals around it. I specifically used the darkest blues and blacks for the background to make the orange and red highlights—the 'fire' colors—really pop and demonstrate how the palette ragdoll hit handles light and heat variations. The image is a strict $464 \text{x} 120$ crop to ensure the canvas is fully utilized (Rule 2).
