Kulsar Kronun @kulsar-kronun I just started PLEASE send tutorials, tips, art books recommendations (?) or whatever idontknowwhatimdoing Hi, this is my first post. I wanted to ask for help, since i want to learn to make pixel art but i have 0 background in art. I've seen a few youtube videos about pixel art, color theory, shadows and ho to use aseprite, but still i feel like im missing something. Do you know if theres like exercises i could do or follow to make my "first steps"? its not even about pixel art, is about art itself. I painted this coin, but it looks and feels weird to me because of the highlights and shadows i tried to make, since i know theyre weird but idk why. Is the thickness of the "shine"? The position? I've thought about making a piece a day or maybe 30 mins a day of pixel art, but without a way of recognising what i do wrong i wont see progress.

I'd definitely suggest taking advantage of the Tutorials section on this site.  Of course there are many styles and approaches, but I've found much of pixel art is about the form or shape of the object in 3D.  As opposed to a simple, colored in drawing.  Similar to painting.  I'd suggest work on the simplest, largest shapes only.  Not only does it force you to think about what the most essential elements really are, but also makes it easier to know when it's right before you move on to greater detail.  Like this coin, just make a plain flat disc first. without the contours.  As well, a good approach is to try to reduce the amount of colors being used to a minimum.  This coin for example could be done using only the lightest 3 colors.  Hope this helps!
