Ardos @ardos Pixel artist & indie dev, currently working at Soft Reverie Studio on Knick Knack Stack. I love drawing characters :D Illustration created for the GB Pixel Art Jam 2026.

The theme was "3", so I decided to depict the 3 Moirais of Destiny from Ancient Geek mythology! They are Destiny personnified as three women. They decide the life of every living being using a string spun from a spindle.

I chose to have them be at 3 different stage of human life to give them more personnality. The younger one holds the spindle in hand, symbolizing the start of life. The young adult one is pulling the string and the oldest one snaps the thread where the life should end.

I kinda freestyled the drawing, I didn't really plan for the GameBoy tile limit, so I ended having to hide the oldest character in the shadow. I also couldn't represent the scissors slicing the thread so it's cut by the shear power of the Moirai eyes! I think having 3 detailed figures on the same GameBoy screen is a bit too ambitious hahaha!
Since I already destroyed the tile counter with my characters, I chose to be very simplistic with the background. I created 2 textured tiles and tried to create a sens of flow in the image following the string.
