This piece is based on the historical account of Jesus on the Cross. In the Gospels, they describe Jesus being taken and crucified at a place called, "Golgotha." That means, "The Place of The Skull" in English. Also, we do know Jesus had a theif either side of him, whhiiiiccch would be 3 crosses in total at Golgotha. It was decided there: Make a slightly exaggerated piece of Golgotha.
I had quite a bit of difficulty making this. I started off strong, then plateaued for bit, and finally broke through the struggle to complete this artwork. Defining the rock in way that obeyed the 192 unique tile limit while looking good was quite difficult. I spun around in a circle for a bit trying to figure that out, but I am just glad I finished on time. :) The Unique Tile Count was 183 for this.
Only now that I'm done do I realize how creepy this came out, which wasn't fully my intention. I was aiming for a just slightly unsettling look. I think its the "mouth," the wideness of it that pushes the creepiness look. Though, I felt I needed the wideness to make the "mouth"/cave look natural and not like a literal skull. I am quite proud of myself in several aspects with this art work. Big Thanks to Bad Dad for hosting this event on Itch.io
