nossumusstellae @nossumusstellae ~We are stars~ Pixel artist with 8 years experience. Current project: just some random pixels Week one of Pixeljoint's Pixelween! (rules and palette here). Darkness Descending, a victorian solar-punk apocalypse novel. Bonus side views (challenge was for cover only), for two different versions. Couldn't decide which was better, silver or gold. Feedback welcome! Tagline: As the sun fell... so did we.
Blurb:
London, 1900
The Second Industrial Revolution brought with it the incredible power of the sun. No longer reliant on coal, England turned to the newly invented solar.
Our country prospered. Solar unlocked possibilities we could never fathom. Suddenly, we had an endless supply of energy at our fingertips, harnessed using plentiful silicon crystals. Society shifted into something never seen before.
A paradise. Coal replaced with gleaming silver scales covering everything from rooftops to trains, to vehicles and sailing ships. Lamp-posts and wrist-watches. Air-ships and gliders.
That all changed when the clock towers of England struck noon on January 1st, 1900. The sun went black, transforming into a solitary ring of orange fire. As the bells tolled, our world fell apart.
Then, out of the darkness, the Sceo descended.
(Why Sceo? Middle English for sky, etymology info here) EDIT: Forgot to add... pixel Spectre font by Nuallan can be found here!
