I've had an interest in pixel art for years but only started making it in 2020. I can more often be found over at Pixel Joint, where you can see a few more of my older pieces and ones that are more Pixel Joint-specific.

The astronaut Anna Lee Fisher, drawn for the 29th December 2025 Challenge 2000 at Pixel Joint, in which you could make up your own challenge rules.

I decided to theme mine around firsts, so I drew the first mother to go to space in the palette of the first home computer with colour graphics (the Compucolor 8001).

The reference was this iconic image, so you can see I didn't get a great likeness.

This is fantastic mate, I think the likeness is spot on :-) Love the colours and the story behind the hardware and the subject.

Thanks so much! I'd love to try something like this again. The palette's a right pain since the colours are only perceptually different in value (except the black and white) but it's at least eye catching.

Also, it's cool to get a comment from someone who I believe is probably geographically the closest pixel artist to me that I've met online so far. I got a good laugh out of the end of The Unlucky Little Shack!
