I've had an interest in pixel art for years but only started making it in 2020. I can more often be found over at Pixel Joint, where you can see a few more of my older pieces and ones that are more Pixel Joint-specific.

The Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar, drawn from this reference in my Escorpión palette (on Lospec soon - for real this time).

I recently saw a preview of his latest film, Bitter Christmas, so I'm glad to finally get this done while it feels particularly relevant to me. My favourite period of his work is what I guess could now be called his 'middle period', containing my personal favourite Broken Embraces (2009) as well as Volver (2006) and his only foray into horror, The Skin I Live In (2011). Every era of his work is worth checking out and, if you didn't like a film from one decade, I think his work is varied enough that it'd be worth checking out something from another one.

This piece was more of a struggle than the last two, and circumstances meant I couldn't work on it as solidly as I'd like hence the gap. I definitely need to invest more time in learning to draw properly so I can focus more time on the rendering stage without contstantly having to adjust the proportions. You can see some major embarrassments in the WIP animation but hey, that's what happened.
