The Lospec Palette List is a database of palettes for pixel art. We include both palettes that originate from old hardware that could only display a few colors, as well as palettes created by pixel artists specifically for making art.

Fake 24 bit (modded Web)

Created by FriendlyPolygon

Fake 24 bit is a color palette intended to be able to display any high color 24bit (32bit?) images by using dithering algorithms. It was created for use in the mod for Quake game which has 8bit color space, to be able to display all the colors on textures. This palette has 254 colors (other two are special colors in Quake). This palette is based on Web palette from GIMP with many colors removed and added. This palette has been carefully debugged for a long time with technicolor images and colorful photos and mostly will give better results when applied to 32-24 bit images in comparison to the one generated specially for them. Use GIMP's dithering for best results!
