A Gameboy Color inspired palette designed for linear ramps of 4 colors that include black and white. There are 8 base colors and 6 shadow colors, many of which can be mixed to create subtle variations for each base color. Not really designed for larger mixed ramps.

Based on the scenes of Pelennor Fields from Lord of the Rings movies (the area outside of Minas Tirith, where the largest battle in the third age took place).

This palette is based on the Game Boy Color game Survival Kids 2, which was only released in Japan. I use a bunch of screenshots from the game and extracted the colors, then reduced it as much as possible without losing too much of the original charm. The original game had more subtle variations between shades on different maps, and probably has hundreds of different colors, but i think this approximation is like 95% accurate, and much easier to use. Black is used heavily on all parts of the games, the next 16 colors are used for sprites and cutscenes, and the rest of the palette is for background environment tiles. It should be noted this is based on the output from an emulator, and the real game would be much more desatured on an actual gameboy, but I like how they look with these bright colors. Different emulators can also display the colors differently, so this isn't an official palette, just an interpretation. In the end I converted it to 15-bit RGB (each value is divisible by 8) like the gameboy color uses, the difference was negligible.

The colors in this palette were designed as a 3x3 grid, where any line between the lightest and darkest color can be a viable ramp. I felt it looked warm and summery, but also a bit crayon like, so the name is a combination of "wax" and "sun", but could also be interpreted as "waxing", meaning getting stronger, like the summer getting warmer at this time of year. Happy summer! All together there are 4 5-color ramps.

This is based off the cartoon Hilda, which has some beautiful art, in no small part due to the colors. I created this by grabbing colors from over a dozen screenshots from the show, and picking out the most important colors. I originally had over 70, but reduced it to a much smaller 32 so it would better reflect the cartoon's simplicity. This is intended to be used for daytime scenes, I did not include dusk or night scenes, as I felt they wouldn't mix well (they could possibly made as separate palettes). I originally made this in 2020 but wasn't totally happy with it until I posted in with some other unfinished palettes on discord, and there seemed to be some demand to finish it. So I spend a few hours putting some final touches on it, and am pretty happy with the result! I would reccomend looking at some hilda screenshots for ideas on how to use it.

For the #marchmadnesspalettecontest, where the prompt is to create a bold and crazy palette. This palette is based on a series of albums by Insane Clown Posse, commonly referred to as the six joker's cards.
